It all started when I was 19 years old.
This was the age where I made the decision to improve my personal and professional life. This was the age where I decided to cut out the nonsense and focus on creating the life I wanted for myself. However, because I had no blueprint and had absolutely no idea on how to even turn my ideas into income, I continued to chase jobs and meaningless opportunities stuck in survival mode.
One thing I did know how to do, though, was write.
At 22 years old, I self-published my first book, STAGE: Real People, Real Problems, Real Life.
And that's when the second most important part of my life began. Although, I still struggled to be a full-time entrepreneur, writing my first book is what opened up the gateway to who I am now and the number of opportunities I have received doing what I love along the lines of public speaking, workshop facilitation, and mentoring. However, I still didn't fully tap into this entrepreneurial/business world right away because even though I sold 100 copies of my book and was receiving these opportunities, I still wasn't fully tapped into my potential. Shoot, I won a Role Model Mentorship award from the Black Canadian Awards and still didn't believe in myself fully.
Until I hit 23 years old and was fired right before my birthday in April 2016.
Being let go from the cleaning job was a lifesaver but it was also frustrating especially after having financial troubles the previous year. But on the same day I was let go, I was so fuelled up with emotion that I decided to transmute my frustration into motivation and finally take life into my own hands by finally turning an idea of mine into income.
At 24 years old, on my birthday, I had my first meeting with a potential client that I had connected with from Kijiji. My first interaction with him was a success because he hired me immediately on that first sales call! And just like that, my journey of entrepreneurship officially began.
For the next 3-4 years, I became a full-time entrepreneur with a roster of clients and a strong portfolio. My customer retention was high and I was able to live comfortably doing social media management and content creation for SMBs and entrepreneurs. I also continued to speak at events, host workshops, and mentor other entrepreneurs through Ten Thousand Coffees. But then, the passion started to fade with this business because managing social media platforms just wasn't doing it for me. But I continued with it to pay the bills.
However, since I was still promoting a personal development brand, at 26 years old, I decided to publish my 2nd book, The ROOT; How to Heal the Hurt & Grow Through the Dirt, which actually gave me the inspiration later in the year to make the next biggest decision of my 20s.
Which was at 27 years old when I closed down my social media business to focus on what I really wanted to do as an entrepreneur.
For about one year, I dedicated myself to focusing on getting clear on what my success system is/was. I knew deep down that public speaking, training, workshop facilitation, writing, and being a business owner was at the core of my system - and so I continued to build my life and new business around that. So, during my 27 and 28 years of living, I invested into coaches, courses, and anything that would help me to advance and build out my success system by focusing on the two worlds I admire the most; mindset and entrepreneurship.
At 29 years old, I published my 3rd paperback book, The Performance Code; How to Increase Your Performance, Productivity, and Progress in Life, and after getting clear on my system, I have been blessed and aligned to work with high-paying clients, fortune 500 companies, top digital marketing companies, become an international speaker, speak on prestigious panels, reach mid five-figures in my business, and have trained over 400 entrepreneurs to-date!
At 30 years-old, I rebranded and relaunched my service-based business (Creative Collab) which helps Public Speakers find speaking opportunities and get booked to speak. In 2022, the business grew so fast that it helped me reach my first $100k (approx) as an Entrepreneur.
Now, my mission is to help new and growing service-based entrepreneurs grow their service business the RIGHT way!
